Human Resource Executive Online . Despite this, we have consistently had difficulty attracting and retaining a diverse group of employees, even though we support various affinity groups within our organization. Can you please suggest some best practices for ways in which we can increase diversity in our organization without running afoul of the law. We need ideas that don't offend any of the groups whose numbers we are trying to increase or any of the groups that already make up the majority of our workforce (and are, therefore, not being target by our diversity efforts). Diversity Best Practices. DiversityInc is the leading source for diversity management best practices on. Executive Diversity Services, Inc. As part of efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion into City wide. Three Diversity “Best Practices” That Hurt Women. These include a litany of programs (women’s networks, leadership training for women. Best Practice Advice for Global Diversity & Inclusion. Global corporate diversity programs have. Best Practices of Diversity Management. Diversity Management, Best Practices, Inclusion. Recruitment Programs. Best Practices In Workplace Mentoring. Best Practices In Workplace Mentoring Programs. ANSWER. As an initial matter, it is crucial for your company to undertake a thorough internal evaluation of where you are in terms of having a diverse workforce. What are your goals and how have you tried to achieve them? Be as thorough as you can when evaluating what departments and levels of management lack diversity. Be clear about what types and classes of employees you hope to attract. Once you fully analyze how your organization stacks up to your goals, there are three areas where you can implement best practices in order to create and maintain a diverse workforce, while steering clear of any legal pitfalls: (a) education and training programs for current employees; (b) recruitment and hiring practices; and (c) retention through promotion, advancement and other general company policies. Biases, prejudices and stereotypes exist everywhere, subtly and overtly. You have the opportunity to help your employees become mindful of their biases, dissect them and ultimately eliminate them through education and training programs. The emphasis of your programs should be to instill the benefits of having a diverse workforce. Encourage and demand managers who make new hires to simply look for the best person free of any biases or prejudices. Point out to your employees that accomplishing the organization's diversity goals will yield positive business results that benefit everyone, such as increased sales revenue, greater market share, higher relative profits and elevated reputation in the community. Some best practices involve providing training in equal- employment- opportunity rights and responsibilities to all employees (including gender awareness, diversity, harassment prevention and affirmative action); forming and supporting affinity groups; forming a diversity council with representatives of all interested organizations to discuss EEO matters; encouraging high- level management participation and interaction; publishing a pamphlet or handbook detailing EEO rights and responsibilities; conducting assessments and surveys of employees; and encouraging suggestions for improvements, while preparing to act on worthy suggestions. An attempt to increase diversity in the recruitment and hiring processes requires an awareness of discrimination laws. Best practices must comply with federal and state law. Federal laws include Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1. Consult your particular state laws as well, which, in many cases, expand the federal protected classes. Best Practices In Diversity Programs For ChildrenFor example, New York State also protects against discrimination in hiring due to sexual orientation, marital status, military status, creed, predisposing genetic characteristics and domestic violence victim or status. See New York Human Rights Law. California also protects employees from discrimination on the basis of ancestry, medical condition and medical records. See California Fair Employment and Housing Act. Organizations should also adopt a strategic approach to advertising and marketing. Ask for input from affinity groups and underrepresented employees in a respectful way. Focus campaigns in communities where you could attract diverse candidates. Utilize affinity groups as outreach facilitators of your organization and attract lower- income and diverse applicants through internship, work/study, co- op and scholarship programs. Best Practices for Diversity. Here are five of the best practices. When advertising open positions, be careful not to use words that may be seen as discriminating on the basis of a protected class. In particular, the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission provides examples of unlawful . An employment agency was found to have violated Title VII when it advertised that one qualification for an open position was that the applicant be a member of a minority. Even though the organization was trying to service a federal contractor with an affirmative- action program, its actions were unlawful. The EEOC has advised that employers may, however, . However, avoid using . Brennan, 6. 50 F. Cir. 2. 01. 1). Discrimination on the basis of any protected class in the hiring process is particularly relevant when conducting pre- employment inquiries. The pre- employment process should be limited to inquiring whether the person is qualified for the job. Information related to an individual's status as a member of a protected class is irrelevant unless you have a legitimate business need for it. Your organization may conduct a voluntary affirmative- action plan if the intention is to only temporarily balance old patterns of racial segregation and hierarchy, and the impact does not . See United Steelworkers v. Safeco Ins. City of White House, 1. F. 3d 6. 75(6th Cir. Finally, once you are able to hire an effective, diverse workforce, the challenge is to retain those talented employees. To do so, foster an attitude throughout your organization of inclusion. Don't let diverse candidates feel abandoned once hired. Strong onboarding, i. Some best practices for retaining diverse employees include establishing - - and committing to - - mentoring and networking programs to help develop high- potential individuals; training individuals involved in the promotion and advancement processes in their EEO responsibilities; including EEO opportunities in advancement and promotion as factors in management evaluations; focusing on barriers to members of protected classes in promotion and advancement and eliminating them; focusing on setting goals for high- potential employees; and investing in their training and professional growth. AMERICAN LEGION COLLEGE; BOYS STATE; BOYSCHILDREN & YOUTH; DEPT. American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government. Boys State programs vary in content and method. American Legion Houston, Texas Post 77 was first Chartered in 1938 as John Robbins Burkett Post No. Post 77 and Unit 77 are dedicated to veterans and active duty personnel is in service for god and country.
Young Pioneer Camps. The program was the idea of two Illinois Legionnaires, Hayes Kennedy and Harold Card, who organized the first Boys State at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a separate but similar program for young women called Girls State. At Boys State, participants learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of franchised citizens. The training is objective and centers on the structure of city, county and state governments. Operated by students elected to various offices, Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law- enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs. Legion posts select high- school juniors to attend the program. In most cases, individual expenses are paid by a sponsoring post, a local business or another community- based organization. Boys State programs currently exist in all Legion departments except Hawaii. As separate corporations, Boys State programs vary in content and method of procedure, but each adheres to the same basic concept: teaching government from the township to the state level. Richard Hunter’s Harmonica Patches for the Digitech RP3. In recent years amp modeling pedals have developed significantly. For example, the Digitech RP series offers a wide range of well known amp models and quality effects for under $2. These devices are designed for guitar but potentially suit harmonica, with the right settings. Finding these settings is not easy. Fortunately Richard Hunter has done the work. Pls help i really need the nirvana-come as you are Zoom G2 patch. Re: Digitech RP300 megadeth patches. Each patch were setup with different EQs. Buy DigiTech RP300A Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal: Floor Multieffects - Amazon.com FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases. His Digitech RP harmonica patch set, available online provides a wide range of good harmonica sounds. The classic approach to amplified harmonica is a bullet type mike, a low to mid powered valve guitar amp and perhaps some analog delay. The result is variations of the classic Chicago sound, most blues harmonica players are after “that sound”. Given the gear available these days (e. Sonny Jr, Harpgear amps) it is not so hard to get. Other players, myself included, need a cleaner sound through a vocal mike (e. SM5. 8) perhaps using a clean tube preamp with some delay. For some time I’ve wanted both, a quality clean sound through a pedal which also provides a strong Chicago type sound on demand. I’ve experimented previously with the Digitech RP 1. Chicago type sound, but was unimpressed with the clean sound, the delays and the reverbs. The newer Digitech RP3. Plus Richard Hunter has done all the work by figuring out the harmonica settings (or patches).
Read reviews and opinions of the DigiTech RP-300 in the Equipment: Effects category by the WholeNote guitar community.I figured it was time for another look. Richards patches arrive as a zip file, which organises the patches into directories (blues, clean etc), along with clear instructions for use. The RP3. 50 has a USB interface, so all the patches can be loaded in one go. Previous RP models required each patch to be entered by hand. Within 1. 5 minutes my new RP3. Richard designed the patches for the Audix Fireball V, a low impedance purpose designed harmonica mic, available online for around $1. An impedance converter is needed, the Audix T5. I tried the patches with a Green Bullet, the blues ones sounded great, the clean ones less so. Not surprising, given the restricted frequency response of the Green Bullet compared with the Audix Fireball V. The basic idea is to run the RP3. I ran it through a 3. Sound. King powered speaker, with a 1. I got massive volume from this small box, with very little feedback. If you already get a Chicago type sound through a valve amp, then running it with the RP3. However, Richard does provide “effect only” patches (reverb, delay, chorus). These can feed directly into a guitar amp, and are worth trying. How do they sound? In a word, just great. The first patch in the “by amp model” set is based on a Fender ’5. Tweed Champ, with a complex combination of delay, reverb, chorus, noisegate and eq. A big fat traditional authentic sound. You may end up sticking with this one. Pushing the foot pedal down increases the delay, pressing the A/B switch toughens the sound. Subsequent patches add different effects, these include: – Octave: either high or low, controlled by the foot pedal. A very different sound, some will like it, others not– Vibrato: Dramatic. Again, probably for some, not others– Leslie: the classic organ sound, with the pedal controlling speed. Potentially great for long background notes– Flanger: a tough Rock and Roll sound– Chorus: I’ve never been a fan of Chorus pedals for harmonica (or any pedals apart from delay). However the answer is to use just the right amount. I like Richard’s chorus sounds. There are many more sounds available than can be described here. Best to try them yourself. Two more deserve mention. Firstly, the clean sounds are just that. And, the RP3. 50 detune provides a very decent tremolo sound. In short, while the RP3. Finding the needles in the haystack which suit harmonica requires much time, an analytical mind, and a great ear for harmonica. Fortunately Richard Hunter has these skills, and has made the results available to us. Around $3. 50 buys an RP3. Audix Fireball V mic and impedance convertor and Richard Hunter’s patches. I can’t see any similar investment which provides such a range of quality harmonica sounds. I highly recommend them. Online Casinos With Playtech, Microgaming & Realtime Gaming Software.
